Find something you love to do and
you’ll never have to work a day in your life.
Create your life and work around your passion.
Make money with your passion.
What do you love to do? Now go make money doing it.
Build a business based on your passion.
What are you to do if you don't know what your passion is?
Or…even worse…if it's obvious that you won't make the amount of money you want if you stick with what you love to do?
For most people who want to own an online business, finding the passion before starting the business is the wrong way to look at it. I say this:
Start a business online and learn how:
- to run it
- to market it
- to maintain it
- to grow it
- to be a business owner
While you're learning and doing, interesting things begin to happen. You grow as a person and as a business owner. You learn what you like and don't like about the business you've chosen. You meet people along the way who teach you, share with you, guide you to being a better business owner and then your passion shows itself to you.
Changing the focus of your business or stopping and starting over doesn't mean the business, or you, failed. I recommend that you wait until you're making enough money to cover your household bills and a bit extra (profit) so that you have something to invest in the next business – the one that's focused on your passion.
Here's how it could look:
- Get a blog.
- Purchase internet marketing training as a package.
- Purchase products to sell through the blog so you don't have to create your own.
- Join a group of people using the same training as you purchased (so you have someone who understands the questions you're asking).
- Learn how to use social media to build relationships.
- Join online groups for business owners and learn what others do to grow their businesses and themselves.
After you've reached the revenue goal you've set, then begin the work of deciding what your passion is – if you feel the need to. It could be that you're content with the type of business you've built. Or…it could be that you've found joy in teaching others how own an online business like yours. Then again, maybe you found a passion for video marketing. Or you decide that a daily podcast is what you want to do.
The point is this: start now to build an online business and along the way your passion will find you. Once that happens, you get to experience the joy of working on something you love.
And, really, isn't that what you're doing now? Working at a job you don't like. Doing work that has no meaning for you. Working with people who don't excite you. Feeling tired and drained. Trying to save money to start a business, you just don't know what business to start?
