How will you get from point A to point B if you don't know how you're going to do it? It's so important to plan ahead so there are no surprises that will take you completely off course.
One of the best success habits you can develop is to plan:
- Plan for your business as a whole.
- Plan for how you're going to get from point A to point B on projects big and small.
Have a plan for the year, the next 6 months, for every month, for every week, for every day, for every project.
Sit down and figure out how you're going to do things. Have a strategy. Follow the path of success.
Know exactly what you're going to do it, and when you're going to do it. Do everything in the most profitable and efficient way possible. This will really help you. Planning ahead in this way is a very positive daily success habit to have.
On Day 2 I talked about setting goals. With your goals in front of you, list all that must be done to achieve them. Then, separate that list into 3 columns: Year – Month – Week.
This is where many people get wonky. They don’t know which tasks or projects should be placed on which list.
To properly determine a schedule that will work to achieve your goals, you must think a single goal through from start to finish. If you’re at all familiar with manufacturing production schedules, it’s the same principle: what raw parts are needed and in what order are they put together so the final product is created?
It does take a bit of practice to learn this skill, and once you do you’ll see how valuable it is.
You can plan an entire year of tasks that will lead to the accomplishment of your goal.
And, if and when a week goes off track because of other people, resources needed, normal bumps along the way, you have the master schedule you can refer to AND you know how to adjust the monthly/weekly/daily to accommodate the bumps.
This daily habit is referencing your master plan to insure your daily work is on track.
