If you’re like many people I’ve talked to, then you’ve reached the end of the day without having gotten anything done. This is extremely discouraging for you. Maybe you start the day off really excited and thinking that you’re going to be highly productive that day. But, it just doesn’t happen.
You may know it as the Pareto Principle. It is an economic principle that has crossed over to general business and then into the various aspects of productivity. And it says: 80% of the output from a given situation or system is determined by 20% of the input. It works for solo businesses, too.
If you think that to be successful you must work all day and all night. That you must “grind and hustle” and always be moving at top speed. That you must sleep no more than 4 hours a night and never take naps.
You are at your best when you are rested.
How will you get from point A to point B if you don’t know how you’re going to do it? It’s so important to plan ahead so there are no surprises that will take you completely off course.
It’s hard to go it alone in business.
It’s so easy to feel isolated. Maybe you work for yourself, but you’re really struggling because you feel so isolated. It’s no wonder– it’s hard to stay motivated when it’s just you that you have to answer to.
Not only should you know what your goals are, but they should be very specific goals. Know your exact numbers, dates, deadlines, and more. These are what you’re working toward. These are what will help you be more profitable. When you achieve these things, you’ll be a success based on your own criteria.
